Economics education in secondary schools is now mainly focused on cognitive learning goals - on learning by heart. The question is whether this focus is sufficient at a time when social issues increasingly force us to make difficult choices.
Teachers for Climate, in collaboration with the Technotrend Foundation, has developed three lesson series in which students are also taught affective learning objectives and skills. This is in addition to, and to reinforce the regular economics program, in order to get students working with head, heart and hands on economic issues.
During The Week of Economics Education, Technotrend is hosting a meeting to test the materials developed and for teachers to discuss with each other the usefulness of lessons that incorporate multiple perspectives.
