Premiere documentary "Can I Ask You Something?

Still2_Mag ik jou wat vragen_210923

What if we stopped seeing crises such as climate change, biodiversity loss, increasing social inequality and refugee flows as problems outside ourselves, but as a demand from the world to us? An appeal from the world to you, me? What would that mean for economic education?

Each year, more than thirty thousand students complete an economics degree. How do we ensure that these students are prepared for a world that poses ever more pressing questions?

This hopeful documentary visits 14 colleges, each seeking an answer to that question in their own way. As a thread, Kees Klomp takes you to Gert Biesta who puts everything in pedagogical perspective. This produces a special conversation about the importance of facing reality and thus learning to make mature choices, versus the infantile choices we are constantly tempted to make in our society. How do we help each other without moralizing? How do we open the school doors to the world?
