On Friday, March 10, Lans Bovenberg took his leave as professor at Tilburg University. He did so by delivering his farewell address entitled "Citizenship and sustainability in economics education: about connection, meaning and happiness."
Inspiring speech in which Bovenberg advocates that citizenship and economics education in secondary schools go hand in hand. This will give students a more realistic picture of reality: that people are not only consuming individuals focused on their material self-interest but also citizens: cooperating, moral beings who love reciprocity as an end in itself.
